Department of Architecture
The Department of Architecture is the Faculty of Science, The Tamil University Promotes high quality research and contributes to the university’s vision of achieving world –class standing by cultivating a supportive research milieage.

Since 1988, the Department has initiated several research projects, working papers, conference series, field documentation and source material, for further studies and teaching.

All research projects are intended to stimulate and facilitate scholarly and professonal research oriented communication and interaction amongst international Tamil Studies Scholors, the Tamil Architectural Historians, research institutions, individuals – local, regional, international and contribute to intellectual vitality is the field of Tamil Traditional art and Architectual Heritage, Traditional Science and Technology Schlorship, etc.

This Department is aimed to encourage multi-disciplinary and multi-organisational research projects and provides facilities for advanced consultation and colleboration with Heritage Management.

The Depart of Architecture started functioning as the multi-disciplinary research center for south and south East Asian Architectural studies.

The Department has by now over thirty book publication and 20 research projects to its credit.

The Department organises Ph.D Programmes, refresher Courses, Seminars, Lectures and workshops on Traditional Teryde Architecture of the Tamils, Traditional divellings and settlements, culture and Architecture, South and Southeast Asian Temple Architecture, Korean Traditional Architecture, Traditional Bali Temple Architecture and Indian Architecture.
